The Office of Financial Institutions is proud to be a part of the new Department of Public Protection. The Department is responsible for the supervision and regulation of various industries that perform services for the citizens of Kentucky. The Office of Financial Institutions regulates the financial services industry.
The Office of Financial Institutions
is currently organized into three divisions:
The Division of Financial Institutions is responsible for chartering and/or licensing, examining, and otherwise supervising the operations of state-regulated Banks, Trust Companies, Credit Unions, Consumer, Industrial and Mortgage Loan Companies, Mortgage Loan Brokers, Check Cashing Companies, and Sellers of Money Orders.
The Division of Securities, handles the regulation and supervision of the state’s securities industry by registering, licensing, examining, investigating, and otherwise supervising securities firms and professionals operating in Kentucky or involving Kentucky investors.
The Division of Administrative Services, is the internal function that performs the day-to-day operations of the agency.
